Are you a person who love to see the city from the top?
Well, I am the person who love to see the whole city from the top, which I always will check the place where I can enjoy the view of city from the top before I’m on my way to other country. Such like, in Taipei, you can go to Taipei 101 or Xiangshan; in Paris, you can go to the top of Arc de Triomphe or Eiffel Tower or Norte Dame; in London, you can go to the sky garden without charge.
In Athens, there are 5 places that you can have an amazing view of Athens from top, which now I am going to share with you.

1. Acropolis hill
The Acropolis Hill is one of the commanding heights of Athens, and you can see where the New Acropolis Museum is, which you can enjoy the scenery of Athens after you visit the Acropolis.

2. Philopappos Hill
Philopappos Hill Park is a civic park on the west side of the Acropolis, also known as Mouseion. The ancient Greeks believed that the nine muses lived in here, which it’s kinda mysterious, but it’s really kept it in people’s memory, that it was recognized as a new place for democratic thought.
Philopappos Hill is one of the best places to visit for sunset in Athens. Thanks to the hill’s central location, it’s the perfect spot to watch day turn to night as it provides wonderful views of both the Acropolis and the whole city.
The walk up isn’t too strenuous, and only takes around 15-minutes from bottom to top. At the top of the hill you will find the Philopappos monument – an ancient Greek mausoleum dedicated to Philopappus, a prince from the Kingdom of Commagene.

3. Stoa of Attalos
You can see the Temple of Hephaestus in second floor.
It is the only building in Greece that has been completely restored. Although it is not original, I think the renovated building is the most attractive than others.
The colonnade is used to commemorate Pergamon’s King Attalos II. It has a total of two floors and is used by citizens to discuss business. The outer layer of the column is Doric and the inner layer is Ionic. Now it’s rebuilt to display the acient objects excavated of Foro Romano.
In second floor, you can see the Temple of Hephaestus, which it’s the nice place to see it.

4. Areopagus hill
The Areopagus is a bare, solid marble hill that is centrally located adjacent to the entrance of the Acropolis. Its name translates to “Ares’ Rock”, and in Roman times it was called “Mars’ Hill”. The Areopagus has a very significant history, and it has been the scene of some of the most important events to occur in Athens’ history.
The Areopagus hill offers incredible views of the nearby Acropolis hill. Since the Acropolis is such a focal point in the city, seeing it in different angles becomes somewhat of an obsession as it takes on a completely different form. But one thing you have to careful that you should take more serious of rock, it might make you slip.

5. Lycabettus hill
The Lyabettus is breathtaking panoramic views of the whole city.
At 277 metres above sea level, Lycabettus Hill is the highest point in Athens. Sometimes referred to as Mount Lycabettus, it’s a brilliant place to visit for sunset as you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the whole city. That being said, the stunning views mean it’s a brilliant spot to visit at any time of day.

There are two options to get to the top of Lycabettus Hill – take the funicular or walk. I personally opted to hike to the top during my visit, but as we visited lately in the year, which it wasn’t hot at all; however, I opted to take a railway when I go down.
During the summer months walking can be particularly tough due to the heat, so make sure to stay well hydrated if you plan to walk up on a hot day! If it’s a really hot day then we suggest taking the funicular railway to the top.

It runs at least once every 30 minutes between 9am and 2.30am, and during peak times it sometimes runs as often as every 10 minutes.
